The patient is currently not involved in the reimbursement process.
Expertise Pillar: Healthcare Policy.
In Belgium, the pharmaceutical product reimbursement process requires evaluation of both clinical and health-economic evidence. Various organisations, including RIZIV/INAMI, the cabinet of Social Services and Public Health, pharma.be, sickness funds, and clinical representatives, participate in the process. However, one crucial stakeholder, the patient, is currently not involved. The integration of patient representatives in this process is an important consideration, but the specific steps and extent of their involvement remain unclear.
In this project, you will identify existing methodologies to capture the patient perspective objectively. Through an examination of patient needs and expert interactions, you'll determine which steps of the reimbursement process can benefit from patient input.
