Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia, affecting 1 in 10 people above 65 years old and 1 in 2 people above 85 years old.
Expertise Pillar: Value, HEMAR.
Hict is a consortium partner in the PRISMA project, where researchers are developing a polygenic risk score (PRS) to measure disease risk due to genetic predisposition. However, genetic predisposition only accounts for about 70% of AD cases, making it unclear if the PRS's predictability is sufficient for clinical diagnosis. This project aims to identify potential applications where PRS can provide added value, such as estimating the rate of disease progression.
As an intern at Hict, you'll explore these possible applications of PRS in Alzheimer's Disease, based on available literature and interviews with PRISMA consortium partners.
We will be giving an online info session on the different internship topics in the week of 24 April 2023.
