PRESS RELEASE — Hict joins PATH, a major European initiative advancing responsible AI‑enabled cancer care
Belgium – February 2026 — Hict is proud to announce its participation in PATH – the Patient AI Treatment Hub, a newly launched European project funded under the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI).
PATH aims to transform cancer care through responsible artificial intelligence, secure health data use, and large‑scale clinical validation. The consortium convened for its online kick‑off meeting at the end of February 2026, marking the official start of this ambitious programme.
PATH unites 23 organisations from 10 countries, bringing together expertise in oncology, AI, digital health, data privacy, and clinical research. The project will develop an AI‑driven platform that supports clinicians in delivering more precise, timely, and personalised cancer treatment while ensuring that patient data remain protected.
Within this multidisciplinary European partnership, Hict takes on several key responsibilities that contribute directly to the project’s long‑term impact and real‑world applicability:
Hict supports the coordination of pan‑European pilots that will evaluate the real‑world impact of AI tools on cancer care workflows, clinical outcomes, and efficiency across diverse healthcare environments.
Hict co‑drives the strategy to ensure that PATH’s results reach clinicians, policymakers, patient communities, and innovators, while supporting the development of a sustainability and uptake roadmap for the PATH platform beyond the project’s duration.
These roles position Hict at the centre of PATH’s mission to translate advanced AI technologies into meaningful, evidence‑based improvements for cancer care systems across Europe.
PATH’s consortium includes leading hospitals, research institutions, industry partners, and patient‑focused organisations from across Europe, forming a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary network committed to advancing responsible and trustworthy AI in oncology. Some key partners include EuropeanDynamics, AgoraLabs, AristotleUniversityofThessaloniki, AncoraHealth, and ForwardFasterAI.
By enabling privacy‑preserving data sharing, federated AI development, and robust clinical validation across multiple countries, PATH seeks to improve decision‑making for clinicians and contribute to more equitable, efficient, and personalised cancer treatment. The project’s innovations will support better clinical insights and help shape the future of AI‑enabled oncology.
